Hey I’m Siena

I’m a muralist, illustrator, and multi-disciplinary artist based in Indianapolis, Indiana. I graduated from Washington University in St Louis in 2011 with a double major in Printmaking and Environmental Studies.

After a challenging stint as a young arts administrator, my quarter-life crisis led me to buy a one way ticket to Hawaii. With toes in the sand I fell in love with my surroundings and began drawing the curious plants and animals I saw on land and underwater. My new environment was so strange that I started free-associating what I saw with other shapes, such as a manta ray volcano. My brain has always loved making connections between disparate ideas, so this was a natural progression to apply that quirk of mine to visual art.

I reconnected with my creativity by changing my environment and slowly built my dream job. Now I showcase the connections between all living things through imaginative, thought-provoking artwork, spreading bright colors and good cheer with my Magical Realism style. Some call it "Feel-Good Madness."

I specialize in large-scale civic projects (the largest spans six stories) and in pushing the boundaries of where a mural can go. I love collaborating with organizations rooted in community to co-create a design that stakeholders genuinely love. See a few of my clients below:

My Artistic Style

My steadfast faith in humanity leads me to create colorful, life-affirming artwork that visually communicates how everything is connected.

I create magical realism murals inspired by the world around me and morphed by my slightly unhinged imagination. Because the compositions layer multiple elements, viewers are encouraged to slow down, be curious, and see things from a new perspective. My work focuses on enhancing emotional well-being through vibrant, thoughtful, and inspiring murals that remind us of our shared humanity and sense of wonder.

Above all, my goal is to use public art to improve people’s lives. I genuinely believe in the power of art to make a positive impact through the science of neuroaesthetics.

My collaborative process invites clients behind the scenes where they can get in touch with their own creativity, however dormant it may be.

My mural installations create a focal point that shifts the energy within a space. The out-of-the-ordinary visual puzzle invites the viewer to engage with it and form their own emotional response. Public Art = Public Health.

Our environment influences our mental, emotional, and neurological health. In this way, large-scale murals are powerful tools for making a significant impact on a population's well-being. Additionally, murals are more democratic and accessible than traditional art displays.
