Versa Balconies

FULL COVERAGE MURAL

Milhaus hired me to create a dynamic vertical mural spanning six stories tall

Setting the Mood

The goal of this mural project included keeping a cohesive look between the other mural on Versa Apartment’s exterior. The mood board I created explored round shapes, grid-like layouts, and clean lines. The Milhaus team spent time reviewing the multipage mood board and then we set up a meeting to go over what they liked and didn’t like. These existing images act as a visual “menu” of sorts. Stakeholders can easily communicate which images they like and don’t like. This stage is incredibly helpful before jumping into original design ideas.

Design Process

Hearing what the Client responded positively to on the mood board narrowed my focus on how to approach the mural design. I developed three grayscale options for the first round of design.

The Client picked their favorite and then I added color. Milhaus said they picked the design that worked overall as one large composition and also allowed each balcony to have its own unique design.

Painting Process

For this mural installation I went with a tried and true grid method. I worked around the ongoing construction work like a mural ninja.

Testimonial

“As a new development in the Broad Ripple neighborhood we wanted to pay homage to the existing local art scene. The mural that Siena has created ties in perfectly to the Versa brand as well as the neighborhood.

Siena has been great to work with. She listens, takes feedback, is organized and prompt and never loses site of the end goals.

“Thanks for being such a great partner and keeping local art alive!”
