To celebrate the wonderful world of mushrooms, I designed a festival poster for a local event.

Setting the Mood

The goals for this project included:

Design an illustrated poster for a local event
Build my portfolio with mushroom clients because mushrooms are epically cool

With these parameters in mind, I focused on a not-too-crazy direction. This mood board shows the layered vibe I was going for.

Design Concepts

With all of the text that needed to be on the poster, I wasn’t sure how to lay everything out. I started looking at different mushroom varieties and started sketching a turkey tail cluster. Pretty quickly, the layout came to me, and you can see the evolution from grayscale to full-color options I presented to the client.

Final Design

The team picked the blue background, so I sent the files over for use on posters, T-shirts, and stickers. I would love to make more mushroom-themed illustrations!
